a. Any electronic / electrical items like Stereo, A.C etc. which were not fitted by the manufacturer and were installed after the car was purchased can be covered under Electrical / Electronic Accessories.

b. In the last one year if you have added accessories of more than Rs 15,000/-, the insurance company will require an inspection before covering it in your car policy.

a. Any non electronic / non electrical items like Alloy wheel, Leather seat covers etc. which was not fitted by the manufacturer and installed after purchased of car to be consider as non electronic accessories. This would not be part of Car IDV.

b. In the last one year if you have added accessories of more than Rs 15,000/-, the insurance company will require an inspection before covering it in your car policy.

If you have installed a CNG / LPG kit in your car in the last year, this addition of CNG / LPG kit in your car has to be endorsed on your vehicle Registration Certificate. Your car insurance policy can cover it after the endorsement. The insurance company will also conduct an inspection before providing coverage.

All passengers, upto the seating capacity of the car, can be covered for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh each on an additional premium of Rs. 50/- per passenger.

In case your paid driver gets injured or dies in an accident while driving your vehicle, you are liable to compensate him or his heirs as per the Workmen’s Compensation Act. By opting for this cover your liability is taken over by the insurer. This cover is strongly recommended in case you have a driver or plan to employ a driver.

Voluntary Excess is the amount that you willingly choose to bear in each and every claim e.g. if there is a claim of Rs. 10,000/- and you have chosen a Voluntary Excess of Rs 2500/-, the insurance company will reimburse Rs. 7500/-

Vehicles fitted with anti-theft devices approved by Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune and whose installation is certified by any of the Automobile Associations are eligible for a discount of 2.5% on the Own Damage component of premium subject to a maximum of Rs. 500/-.

If you are a member of any recognized Automobile Associations such as

1. Automobile Association of Eastern India,

2. Uttar Pradesh Automobile Association,

3. Western India Automobile Association,

4. Automobile Association of Southern India,

5. Automobile Association of Upper India,

you can avail a discount @ 5% of the Own Damage premium, subject to a maximum of Rs.200/-.

The insurance company requires the photocopy of membership card to allow this discount.

In case of vehicles specially designed / modified for use of blind, handicapped and mentally challenged persons, a discount of 50% may be allowed on the Own Damage premium in respect of both privately owned vehicles and vehicles owned and used by institutions engaged exclusively in the services of the blind, handicapped and mentally challenged persons.

The discount is allowed only in respect of such vehicles, whose modification has been recorded in their R.C.

You have an option to restrict the Third Party Property Damage (TPPD) cover to the statutory limit of Rs 6,000 as provided in the Motor Vehicle Act.

However, this cover can be increased to Rs 7.5 lakh for cars and Rs 1 lakh for two-wheelers by paying a nominal additional sum of Rs 100 (private cars), Rs 150 (commercial vehicles - Taxis and three-wheelers ) and Rs 50 (two- wheelers).
